In its five campi, three in Leiria (Campus 1, 2 and 5), one in Caldas da Rainha (Campus 3) and one in Peniche (Campus 4), students have at their disposal a set of educational facilities and equipment: modern and well-equipped scientific and support services, including laboratories, documentary and bibliographic resources (libraries, B-on – digital scientific library), easy access to the internet (physical or wireless) and social support (scholarships, canteens, restaurants, residences, medical services) through the Social Services of the Polytechnic of Leiria. Most of the pedagogical buildings are adapted to receive students with SEN, with elevators with commands with Braille information, adapted sanitary facilities and parking spaces for people with reduced mobility. The libraries have a screen reader WindowsEyes, allowing blind students to access all available information, with full control of the content and how to read it. Through the Libraries, it is also possible to access the Open Library of Higher Education (BAES), which has a collection of more than 3,000 titles in Braille, audio and full text.
The region of Leiria and West is considered one of the best to study and work, not only for the quality of the economical and material resources, but also for the richness and beauty of natural, historical and cultural heritage. There are two of the most beautiful Portuguese monuments – the Batalha Monastery and Alcobaça Monastery – classified by UNESCO as World Heritage. The beauty of the sea and the nature are perhaps the most beautiful things we have in this coastal region. A few miles from Leiria, along the coast, the beaches follow one another: more than a dozen with conditions to practice water sports such as fishing, diving, sailing, rowing, jet skiing, surfing, windsurfing and bodyboarding. There are many attractive places during the summer, not only, for sunbathing, strolling by the sea or riding a bicycle along the Atlantic Road, through a pine forest.
